Choosing the right supply chain consultants
When it comes to running a successful business its important to hire successful supply chain consultants, preferably one who works with top companies from across the world.
Supply Chain Consultants focus on improving profit margins for their clients, either by reducing costs, or by facilitating revenue growth.
Here are some top tips to consider when it comes to choosing the ideal consultant for your industry.
Engage early
It’s important to build a connection with your supply chain consultants and not to rush the process. Identify early what the issues are and start talking as soon as you have discovered these.
If you don’t already have a relationship with a consulting company already, ask around and get references or talk to colleagues to find out who’s got a good reputation in the market place.
Engage with the people you will be working with
The preferred way to engage with consultants and where we are likely to see the greatest benefit for the client is not to rush the process, to identify early on what the issues are, don’t leave it until the last minute so make sure you start talking early.
Engaging early is the key to building a successful relationship with a client. Meet a couple of groups, maybe two to three and meet the people who will be working with you by visiting their premises and their senior executives.
Develop a clear plan
Are your issues clear? Decide whether the agency has the capability and a team that are confident in delivering an excellent good client outcome and have the relevant experience in tackling similar supply chain issues before.
Begin by analysing your organisation’s assets and evaluate how well they support the Strategy. Old machinery and disparate systems may mean high operational overhead and costly process inefficiencies and redundancies which don’t support a low cost provider strategy.
Be confident with the people you are going to work with
Most importantly, when hiring a team of consultants you will be a need to get along with them because you will have to work closely with the client and its management team, so there is no point in hiring a team of people who aren’t singing from the same sheet as you.
Make sure your consultancy team has the confident ability to wrap a specific solution in an appropriate setting of process design, information technology, best-in-class practices, integrated planning and operations, and corporate strategies.
